The Freedom Programme supports women to look at the roles played by the attitudes and beliefs of abusers and the responses of victims and survivors. The programme enables women to make sense of and understand what has happened to them. The Programme also looks at how children are affected by being exposed to this kind of abuse and how their lives are improved once the abuse is removed.
The Domestic Abuse Recovery Toolkit is a follow-on group for women who have completed the Freedom Programme. This trauma-informed programme supports women to understand and process their experiences of domestic abuse. We examine the impact of domestic abuse, how survivors were prevented from leaving an abusive relationship and the thinking patterns developed as a result of living in a domestic abuse situation. We work with women’s strengths, resources, coping skills and resilience and empower them to take responsibility for their own health and wellness in the future.
Groups are run at the Women’s Support Centre throughout the year and there is no charge for attending.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org call the Women’s Support Centre on 01483 726621 for more information and dates of the programme.
